Read Everything

Read, read, read. Read everything — trash, classics, good and bad, and see how they do it. Just like a carpenter who works as an apprentice and studies the master. Read! You’ll absorb it. Then write. If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, throw it out of the window.” — William Faulkner

There’s much to read and increasingly little time to navigate it all. Hopefully this newsletter helps. For several years, I compiled a list of good reads each month, usually posting them on social media. People seemed to like those reading lists, and a newsletter is a better and less cumbersome way to compile them. It allows me to include things I’m reading that I can’t link to (books, I believe they’re called), more seamlessly include quotes that struck me, and more shamelessly include my own work.

My hope is to help people find good and relevant reading material and, selfishly, get more reading recommendations that I otherwise may not have come across. Any additional dialogue is a welcome pleasantry.

Read Read Everything. You’ll absorb it. Then subscribe (it’s free). If it’s good, you’ll find out. If it’s not, you can always throw it out of the window (or unsubscribe — please don’t throw anything out a window on my behalf).
